Numdrassl is one of the 5 listed alterverses showcased in some Hytale concept art released.
Parts of the community assume this Alterverse will be involved with Gaia in some way. People also speculate that this could have a relationship with the Elves, a playable race of Hytale that we have little information about.
From what it looks like, it appears be a World at least somewhat similar to Orbis.
The alterverse concept art shows spiral signs, green grass (also one blue patch), and white streaks (thought to be towers or fences). You can also see an object floating over the alterverse emitting white light. This could hint that the alterverse has a white instead of a yellow sun. But nothing has been said officially.

The name of this dimension reminds me of Yggdrasill, the world tree from Norse Mythology. Anyone think they could have some kind of connection, and also if Gaia may be here at some point in the story?

I agree. I beleive that this is the Elf world and that Gaia protects it and watches over it because she might be the elf queen...
In latin, Orbis means world. It can also mean disk and orb

I want to mention alot of people in the hytale community think that the planets will be dlc however this is not confirmed nor denied.

i believe that the "fences" might be towers that are connected with bridges/tunnels
